Large color photographs (exhibition prints) chiefly of street scenes in San Francisco. Images depict various aspects of the city's social and cultural diversity, with emphasis on everyday people in public spaces, and including such subjects as events, fashions, architecture, automobiles, neighborhoods, businesses, signs, graphic design and other features of the urban environment. Many photographs taken at street fairs and other gatherings, such as the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade and opening night at the San Francisco Symphony. Also includes similar scenes and portraits from other California locations, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Walnut Creek, Marin County, Alameda, Oakland, Pacifica, Madera, Antioch, Santa Cruz, Albany, Napa, Death Valley, Quincy, Moffett Field, Newport Beach, Watsonville, San Bruno, Half Moon Bay, Rio Vista, Berkeley and San Jose. Also present are some scenes taken outside of California in such locations as New York City, Colorado, Chicago, and Washington D. C.
